Restaurants + Email Marketing = Success

How many restaurants are utilizing email marketing campaigns? Email Marketing is a cost effective tool to keep customers coming back to you. But not many restaurant owners have the time to develop email marketing campaigns. So they fall back to traditional marketing like yellow pages, direct mail and coupon books. iGotLunch was developed just for that restaurant owner that knows they want to reach new customers in there local area. Taking someone to lunch

I just read another great post from Seth Godin about meetings. When it comes to meetings, sitting in a office or boardroom it just kills me. I would prefer to take the potential client, networking partner, existing customer to lunch. It breaks down the barriers of me versus them… Then we can start the process of developing a relationship.

Self Promotion

I love this Blog posting today from Seth Godin about self promotion. It gets to the heart of why we started iGotLunch.  Our desire to help people never pay full price for lunch again. In today’s world that’s just what everyone wants.  Here is the post…

Owen Wilson starred in a really bad movie that came out a few months ago. Most notable: he didn’t go out to shill for it. No Colbert, no Daily Show, no Larry King.

Perhaps he’s nursing a bad cold, but my guess is that he didn’t want to extend his personal brand to promote a movie just because he was in it.

Here’s an interesting dichotomy:

Watch this because I’m in it
vs.
I’m in it because you’ll enjoy watching it.

Or,

I published a book so I need you to read it
vs.
There’s something you need to read, so I wrote about it.

Or

I’m fifty and I just made an album because it was time for me to make one.
vs.
These songs won’t let go of me and I want to share them with you because they matter.

The first is me-centric and explains that we’re promoting something that got made because we need to sell it. What we do is make stuff and sell it, and what you do is buy it or watch it.  “I needed to make something to sell, here’s the best I could do.”

The second is you-centric. It starts with the needs and desires of the consumer and ignores the committees, the compromises and the economic realities. It says, “I found something for you, here it is.”

Most of the time, most b2b and most consumer products are sold on the basis of: Yes, there are other choices, but this is the one we make. I’m not sure that’s a good enough reason.

80% of the mail and promotion I get (and 98% of the ads) fall into this category. The enthusiasm of commerce, not of belief and pride.

Reasons to take someone to Lunch Part I… Will you Marry me.

When most couples think of romantic proposals, they think of candlelit dinners, sunset beaches, or other elaborate arrangements. A lunchtime proposal, however, can be just as romantic and even more meaningful for a loving couple. Benefits of proposing at lunch include:

  • It demonstrates more creativity than the cliché dinner proposal.
  • Because it is an unexpected time, it may be easier to surprise the prospective bride.
  • Lunch arrangements can often be made on a tighter budget.
  • Taking time off to arrange a lunch proposal shows more initiative and planning than an easier dinner proposal.

Just popping the question over a quick burger isn’t exactly romantic, however, and planning romantic ways to propose at lunch takes as much time, care, and effort as planning an elaborate evening or holiday proposal.
